Stockport Academy replaced Avondale High School in Cheadle Heath, Stockport.

Bowmer & Kirkland worked closely with the Academy Principal, who was resident on site throughout the construction period. Towards the end of the project we also worked closely with the heads of each department to co-ordinate the completion of each area, ready for the intake of students. This included detailed programming of our fitting out sub-contractors who installed such items as laboratory furniture, kitchen equipment, technology benching, cloakroom benching, IT networks, library furniture and theatre lighting etc. These were co-ordinated in with all the supply only items such as loose furniture, books, laboratory and technology equipment and computers.

Staff and pupils moved into their brand new £27m academy building in November 2008. The new building has been designed with 21st century education in mind and following the inspirational move into the new building, delighted Academy Principal, Tim McCarthy, thanked the Bowmer & Kirkland team, "On behalf of the students, staff and governing body of the Academy, I would like to formally express my gratitude to both you and your staff for the thoroughly professional way in which you have managed the complexities of our academy building programme." and he continued, "All of your team and sub-contracted workers could not have behaved any more professionally. I look forward to our continued outstanding working relationship."
